Confessions of a Gay Curmudgeon recounts the adventures of Viktor, a fifty-year-old gay man in New York City trying to get back in the land of the living after the breakup of a 12-year relationship. Complaining into his digital diary, Viktor is wrestling with many things. He hates negotiating the dating scene. He works as an editor in book publishing and is under a lot of pressure to stay relevant and increase sales. His friends are getting on his nerves with their depression and sexual misadventures. He has distanced himself from his family and immigrant roots to find a new life, but finds distancing himself is easier said than done. And even Viktor’s therapist doesn’t seem to understand him. Perhaps most important, his former lover Gio is a lot on his mind. As much as Viktor wants to move forward he finds it’s two steps forward and one step back as memories of the good times with Gio come flooding back at unexpected times.
